Councillors take oath and elect Mayor, Deputy Mayor

Council held an Extra Ordinary meeting on Tuesday, October 8, 2024, at 9am to administer the Oath of Affirmation for Walgett’s incoming Councillors.

The nine elected Councillors are:

Clr Scott Bailey

Clr Jo Coleman

Clr Michael Cooke

Clr Pauline Kearl

Clr Jane Keir

Clr Jasen Ramien

Clr Gregory Rummery

Clr Alfred Seaton

Clr Daniel Walford

Following the oath, the Councillors elected Clr Jasen Ramien to be Mayor, with the office of the Deputy Mayor going to Clr Greg Rummery.

“Being elected by my peers to lead the Council again is a great honour, and I hope I will prove worthy of their trust in me,” Mayor Ramien said.

“I am also pleased to have Clr Greg Rummery as my Deputy Mayor and I believe we will continue to work together with the rest of the Councillors to represent the communities we serve,” Mayor Ramien said.

The next Ordinary Meeting of Council will be held on October 22nd, 2024.
