Over the last month, Council’s engagement team have been out and about collecting ideas from the community that will guide the development of the new Long Term Community Strategic Plan (LTCSP)

General Manager Megan Dixon said that submissions are still open until October 20,2024.

“The LTCSP is the overarching strategy that will guide the direction of our shire from 2025-2035, and will be reviewed every four years,” Ms Dixon said.

“the engagement team have visited every town and village in the shire and have collected some really inspiring ideas so far, from big things, to smaller things that will make Walgett a great place to live, work and grow,” she said.

“Some of our best ideas have come from our youth, which include greater access to fitness activities and job opportunities,”

“If you haven’t had a chance to share your ideas, forms and submission boxes are available at the main Council offices in Walgett and Lightning Ridge, Collarenebri Friendly Grocer and Walgett Library, or you can email them to comms@walgett.nsw.gov.au or post photos directly to Walgett Shire Facebook page with the hashtag welovewalgett.”

“Once the plan is drafted, there will be a second round of consultation before it goes to Council for endorsement.”

Submissions close October 20, 2024.
