Christmas Closures and Services 2024

The Walgett Shire Council administration building will be closed from 12:00pm Monday, 23 December and re-open Thursday, 2 January 2025 at 8:30am.

Requests can still be submitted via email. However, please be aware that this inbox will be unmonitored over the closure period. 

For urgent matters, please call 02 6828 6100. This number will automatically divert to our after-hours service and escalate your call to our on-call staff.

Garbage and Waste Services

Walgett and Lightning Ridge Waste Facilities will be closed on Wednesday, 25 December 2024 and Wednesday, 1 January 2025. Skip bins will be available for general household rubbish only.

The waste collection services will still be operating but there will be changes to some service days. 

Walgett will be collected on Monday, 23 December 2024 and Monday the 30 December 2024.

Lightning Ridge and Cumborah will be collected on Tuesday 24 December 2024 and Tuesday 31 December 2024. 

All other collections will proceed as scheduled, provided no unforeseen circumstances arise.
